History of The Villas Fire House

Proclamation

Township of Lower, County of Cape May, State of New Jersey

Whereas, the Villas Fire Company was first known as the Wildwood Villas Volunteer Fire Company and received its charter on December 16, 1931 and,

Whereas, the first chief of the department was Harry Rabbinger, and

Whereas, the first fire house was located on Bayshore Road between W. Deleware Parkway and W. Atlantic Avenue on a parcel of land donated by the late Joseph Millman and,

Whereas, the company has grown from 2 pieces of apparatus in 1931 to 8 pieces at the present time, also a Multiple Emergency Rescue Vehicle (MERV) and,

Whereas the company now consists of 35 members, George Costell having been a member for 42 years and chief 28 years,

Now, Therefore be it resolved that Thomas H. Clydesdale, mayor of the Township of Lower, do hereby proclaim the best wishes from the Mayor and Township Committee, as well as all the residents of Fire District #1 on the occasion of your 50th anniversary and thank you for your dedicated services to our community.
